   Aug. 13-23, 2026: IFA Hall of Flame, Iowa State Fairgrounds, Des Moines.

Attic fires can present a significant challenge for engine companies. Access is often limited, visibility is poor, and the structural components of the roof can prevent an exterior hose stream from reaching the burning materials.

We had a very successful controlled house burn on July 18.

Fuel for fires

The summer rains have been plentiful for many parts of the state. Although, there are some areas that have been missed on several occasions, or seen the rain faucet turned off.

Water training

Philip Ambulance hosted a District V meeting/training. A mock accident involving a jet ski/boat collision,  at Lake Wagner north of Philip, was the scene.

July 11, 2015: Deep River Volunteer Fire Department annual water fights, registration at noon, fights at 1 p.m., with women fighting first and men to follow, both using 1-1/2”.
