Six members of the Town and Country Fire Department (Woonsocket) recently completed the Firefighter 1 and 2 program. The class was instructed by Brian Baldwin and his cadre.    When we are called to a fire in a residential structure, we generally will ask first if everyone is out. We may then ask where the fire is if it isn’t obvious. After the resident shares this basic information with us, we then take over and do what we are trained to do to extinguish the fire. 

   On Thursday Dec. 1, 2022 at 8:33 p.m. the Guttenberg Fire Department was dispatched to 523 N. 2nd Street for a fully involved structure fire with people possible still inside. Upon arrival of the first fire personnel, it was determined there was smoke and fire coming from the south end of a group home assisted living residence.

On Nov. 28, Beemer Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a debris pile on fire at a manufacturing business located about a mile outside of Beemer. Further investigation showed a pile of recently ground cardboard combusted in an outdoor compost pile. No injuries or damage were reported. Photo by Beemer Police Department.

On Nov. 10, at 2:30 a.m. Colman Fire and Rescue was called to I-29 mile marker 102 for a cattle pot loaded with 600 pound calves that had tipped over in the median. Conditions at the time were foggy and rain.

   Wall Volunteer Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in the 1300 block of Eagle Cir, Wall, SD on Nov. 20, 2022 at 2:45 p.m.
