Fire in stack system

On Sept. 28 at 2:54 p.m. the Red Oak Fire Department was dispatched to 2049 Fernwood Avenue for a reported fire in the outside stacks. Initial arriving fire crews reported active fire from the stack system. The aerial was deployed for immediate exterior suppression operations. Mutual aid was called in from the following departments for additional firefighters and tanker support to supply water to the aerial: Stanton Fire Department, Elliott Fire Department, Villisca Fire Department, Essex Fire Department and Shenandoah Fire Department. Fire ground operations were completed at 6:30 p.m. No injuries to firefighters or civilians. Unknown dollar amount of damage. Maintenance crews are evaluating the damage at this time.
