Great conference in Gering!

Well, another year has gone by and we are off and running again.  I would like to thank all those who attended our 2024 annual conference, and appreciate the trust you have in me by installing me as your new president.  I would again like to thank past president Shad Bryner for all of this time and hard work for this association, and to let you know he will not be leaving us as I have appointed him onto the fire school committee. (In the words of Lee Corso NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND!)   I would also like to congratulate all of the newly elected board members and officers and may we all do the best we can to make it a great year.

The conference was great in Gering and Chief Flowers, and conference chairman Darrell Vance did not disappoint with all of the hard work that the that department did to host.  We are all looking forward to going to Kearney next year and will hope to see you all there!  We had updates on the Safer grant situation by committee Brad Anderson, Fire Marshall Scott Cortes gave updates on the new WIRAT position, and his office, Allen Micheals gave a report on the training division, Pat Gould had all the information on this year’s SEAT activity to date, Tim Wilson had information on the EMS year and business, and we had many more topics that were discussed.  The hot topic will of course be the Nebraska Firefighter will be going Digital at the beginning of the year, this will come at a cost savings of up to $20, 000.00 to the association.  These are the kind of decisions that have to be made to keep our organization up and running.  We will be meeting in December for Fire School and E board in Grand Island and continuing to grow and make things better.

I would like to thank all of the folks who agreed to continue on the committee’s this year and hope to see great strides in them as most of them could use a boost, and there were good comments on solving some of there problems.  So, until next month I will cut this short as Jeff is waiting on me to send this to him, but we will have new folks putting articles in the paper in the future to keep reading it and the new directions on getting the digital copy will be in the paper and on constant contact.

As always God Bless the Volunteer!

NSVFA President Scott Schremmer
