Nebraska Firefighters Museum and Education Center

The Nebraska Firefighters Museum and Education Center, including the Firefighter and EMS Memorial, is located at Kearney, NE and very easily accessible off of I-80 with the new East Exit.

Have you had an opportunity to visit the site? I address this to you because if you happen to be reading this issue of the Nebraska Firefighter News I know you have an interest in the fire service. You may be a firefighter, a family member with ties to the fire service or possibly your occupation leads you to a copy of this issue because you support the fire service.

Whatever it may be, I would like first to thank you for taking the time to read this article and secondly, to invite you to visit the museum whenever you can. We are not a one time visit type facility. Every year in October there are exhibit changes so we can display various pieces of equipment from across the state and it just might happen to be from your community.

Your museum also hosts events throughout the year that we would be delighted to have you attend. In fact if you happen to know of children interested in participating in the R Hero Camp on Saturday, July 29th please contact the museum at 308-338-3473 for more information.

I invite you to mark your calendars for Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. and join us for the NSVFA Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. A beautiful ceremony to honor the lives of fire and emergency medical responders that are no longer with us.

I also invite you to honor a loved one with a memorial engraving on the black granite pedestals with their name and years of service for a donation of $150. If you have a loved one you would like to honor but they did not serve on a fire department but touched the lives of the fire service personnel in other ways you may honor them with an engraving on a walking brick.

We have many other options to memorialize and honor your loved ones and their passion for serving as an emergency responder, both fire and medical, and would be delighted to visit with you if you are interested.

There are also other opportunities to support your museum, share your appreciation for the preservation of firefighting and emergency medical services history, and help to continue the importance of such a great facility. Please don’t brush your museum aside - contact us today and see how you can help to make things happen. Maybe you would like to serve on the Board of Directors, possibly apply or renew your annual membership or do you have a piece of equipment you would like to have considered for display. Just give us a call at 308-338-3473 and we would be delighted to visit with you.

And please remember this is Your Museum!
