Anamosa firefighters received a report of a house fire Monday afternoon, Jan. 14, and upon arrival the front portion of the house was ablaze. Monticello Fire was called for mutual aid, but the house was deemed a total loss. A woodburner on the front porch is suspected of being the cause of the fire.

It seems as though we hear of mass casualty incidents every week. Part of this is how connected we are with the rest of the world. In the past, news traveled much slower. Often these incidents are in cities. These locations may be able to call on unlimited resources to deal with the incidents.

The Red Oak Fire Department was called to a barn fire on Feb. 11. The barn was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. Emerson Fire Department and Essex Fire Department provided tanker support.

Department and individual membership payments are still coming in! Thank you everyone that is getting them in. I have fielded several calls with questions, thank you for calling or emailing to ask so we can get things taken care of. If you haven’t got your payments in, please remember the due date was Feb. 1.
