On Tuesday, Dec, 8 the Tea Fire Department did a training exercise on ice water rescue. The Department used special ice water rescue suits to help keep the rescuer warm and dry.

     There is a picture that hangs in our fire station that has always sparked my curiosity. It is a hand drawn cartoon of a firefighting scene. There is no date on it, but it is old. Most likely from around the 20’s or 30’s. It shows hose carts and playpipes.

Evansdale Fire responded to a residential fire at 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 17. Sleeping residents were alerted by the Evansdale Police Department and safely evacuated. Assistance was provided by Waterloo Fire, Gilbertville Fire, Evansdale Police and the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Department. Submitted by Ryan Phillips.

Scottsbluff and Gering Fire Departments responded to a structure fire on Jan. 9. Fire was visible through the roof when firefighters arrived. Submitted by Anthony J. Murphy, Fire Marshal.                 

     Chancellor Fire started 2021 with a house fire and a MVA, already coming off our busiest year to date. 

     Columbus firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 1130 South High School, rural Columbus, on Dec. 4. The fire was in the garage of a house that had burned on July 3. The garage and what remained of the house burned. Firefighters returned to the scene the next morning after it rekindled.
